DR. PHABE’S STORY
Back in 1906, Dr. Hugo Pfabe of Delevan, Wisconsin introduced Ginseng Compound Beverage™, a soda that was intended to compete with Coca-Cola®. The soda was prized as a refreshing tonic imbued with all of ginseng’s legendary benefits: energy, stamina, libido enhancement and systemic balance.
The Doctor enjoyed limited success with this newly developed compound beverage. Some stories tell that this great new soda actually made it down to Chicago and was served in some of the finer areas of the city and even in the Palmer House Hotel.
With a deep desire to introduce and tout the benefits of Wisconsin harvested American Ginseng to the public Dr. Pfabe continued to produce his Ginseng Compound Beverage™ and was on his way to unleash his entrepreneur inklings by developing other useful products that used ginseng.
Unfortunately, the plant where Dr. Pfabe had been producing his Ginseng Compound Beverage™ developed a problem that could not be corrected. Mother Nature had decided to re-route the creek that supplied the water and power for the plant to change its course and in effect, put the plant and the Doctor out of business. This unfortunate circumstance was the beginning of the Doctor’s demise.
What happened to the good Doctor is any ones guess, but what we do know is that his legacy would not be forgotten. His vision for Ginseng enhanced drinks in America lives on today. Seventy years later a young man from Chicago, Robert Corr unearthed long-forgotten records describing Dr. Pfabe’s pioneer beverage. Greatly inspired by this find, Robert Corr created “Ginseng Rush”® as a tribute to the good Doctor and his forward vision.
